experience situations

(In the compositions about "reading")

We can experience various situations in the world by reading.

We should go out and experience various situations instead of reading.

The teacher underlined the word "situations" and wrote "-2 (points)"
Why doesn't the word "situations" match in the context?

I think you'll need to ask the teacher.

Bertha,
So you don't find any mistakes in both of the sentences, right?

'Situations' sits all right with me.

I see nothing wrong, which is why I recommended asking your teacher.
