can have a soda
« on: April 20, 2018, 09:07:02 am »
1) I can have a soda with my meal if I'm eating out.

Could this mean:

I might have a soda with my meal if I'm eating out.

Gratefully,
Navi

No.
Your sentence means it is possible for you to have a soda when eating out>

I could have... means almost the same as I might have.

Thank you very much, Duncan,

How about:

2) I can die any day.
3) I can die during the operation.

4) The escaped prisoner can be anywhere.

Do these work?

Gratefully,
Navi
